Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are one of the oldest cosmetic treatments performed, dating back to ancient Egyptian times when natural acids derived from fruit and milk were applied to the skin in the name of beauty. As knowledge and science have advanced, chemical peels are much more sophisticated and specific to a variety of skin problems, including uneven pigmentation, dull, dry or oily skin, wrinkles, blocked pores and acne.

I offer a huge selection of chemical peels from well-established premium brands including; Obagi Medical, Cosmed, Wow and BioRepeel. Click on the links for more information on the peels in each range.

Will My Skin Peel?

This is a question that I get asked a lot when it comes to chemical peels, the answer is no but you will possibly flake! It all depends on the quality of your skin and the skincare products you already use. If your skin is not in very good condition, chances are that you will experience some flaking. This happens because the peel is working to remove any old skin cells, the more old cells, the more flaking.

The only time you will actually “peel” is if you were having the Obagi Medical Blue Peel. Click on the link for more information on this.

What Happens During The Treatment?

Your skin will be thoroughly cleansed and any makeup will be removed. If you have any semi-permanent makeup this will be covered with petroleum jelly to protect the colour.

Depending on which peel is used, your skin will be cleaned with a prep solution. The chemical peel will be applied to your skin using either a syringe, a gauze or my gloved fingers. I will use tapping movements on the face and offer you a hand fan to relieve any discomfort. Different peels have different times to be left on your skin.

The peel will then then be removed with either a neutralising solution or simply washed off using a cleanser and water.

Selected products including an SPF will be applied to your skin. Time will be taken to discuss aftercare and recommended products.

Will It Hurt?

Depending on the strength of the chemical peel chosen the degree of discomfort will vary. The Obagi Medical Blue Peel is a deep TCA peel and does come with some discomfort, click on the link to find out more.

If you are a veteran when it comes to chemical peels or you already use strong products in your skincare regime you will probably find most peels of my peels comfortable, even enjoyable!

For those of you that are new to peels, my patients describe it as a warm tingling feeling, you’ll love my little hand fan to help you manage any discomfort. The results are well worth it.
